Well, this explains everything.

If you thought American voters were daft, check out the Phillipines, where Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., a dictator's son, takes a huge lead in Philippine presidential election. Marcos Jr.'s father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., ruled the Southeast Asian nation of 110 million for 21 years before being ousted in 1986. The elder Marcos tore up presidential term limits, imposed nine years of nationwide martial law, and brutally quashed political dissent. During his rule, tens of thousands were arrested and thousands of his critics and opponents killed, while political allies benefited from rampant cronyism. He and his wife, 89-year-old Imelda, were also estimated to have embezzled up to $10 billion from state coffers until a popular uprising drove the family into exile in Hawaii, where the elder Marcos died in 1989. Let's hope dear old dad wasn't a role model.

Tweets and observations:

Ban Viagra.
If pregnancy is "God's will," so is impotence.

Next time the national anthem is played every woman and girl should take a knee.
-J Not a bot

In an unanimous decision, The Supreme Court struck down a law ensuring a 35-foot "buffer zone" outside abortion clinics, ruling that it violated the first amendment preventing free speech of anti-abortion protesters. Then the Supreme Court erected a fence around itself. Got it.
-Outspoken

While we don't know who leaked the draft opinion, there's only one person we do know of that had access to it, that would have no impediment to doing almost anything, and feels justified because she- yes, she- thinks the US is already at war. Maybe Clarence protests too much.
-Duty To Warn

What kind of world is it where lawmakers want to arrest you for using an IUD but make it easier to carry around a gun?
-Steven Beschloss

You know who had a heartbeat? Every child murdered in their school because Republicans are the party of mass shooters. This isn’t about heartbeats. This is about criminalizing women.
-Rep. Eric Swalwell

A protest march that the people in power approve of is just a parade.
-Robyn Swirling

If Kavanaugh doesn't like the way people in his state are gathering outside his house, maybe he can just take off work and drive hundreds of miles to a different state.

And every time I've held a rose
It seems I only felt the thorns.
And so it goes, and so it goes.
And so will you soon I suppose.

Don't wait for answers
Just take your chances
Don't ask me why.

Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound
Funny, but it's still rock and roll to me.

I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.
Sinners are much more fun...
And only the good die young.

I'm young enough to still see the passionate boy I used to be.
But I'm old enough to say I got a good look at the other side.

I've lived long enough to have learned
The closer you get to the fire the more you get burned.

Some love is just a lie of the heart
The cold remains of what began with a passionate start.

Some people hope for a miracle cure
Some people just accept the world as it is.
But I'm not willing to lay down and die
Because I am an innocent man.

They say that no one's gonna play this on the radio
They said the melancholy blues were dead and gone
But only songs like these
Played in minor keys
Keep those memories holding on.

Yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinking alone.

You know the good ole days weren't always good,
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.

You may be right
I may be crazy.
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for.

You're only human, you're allowed to make your share of mistakes.
