Robert Brault (b. November 7) is a Connecticut-based freelance writer who has contributed to newspapers and periodicals in the US since 1961, but is probably best known as an aphorist whose observations have appeared in venues as varied as Reader's Digest and the CBS television series Criminal Minds. A collection of his observations, Round Up The Usual Subjects: Thoughts On Just About Everything, was published in June 2014, and he posts regularly on Twitter.

A child is a gift that parents give to themselves, forever expecting the child to be grateful.

A family is a group of people who keep confusing you with someone you were as a kid.

After much thought on the subject, I've concluded that life is a ploy to distract our attention, but probably not from anything important.
